How is my blanket Waterproof?
My Little Evers Picnic blankets have been designed to soak up your spills but also to keep your clothing from getting wet when you sit on damp grass or sand.
All of the limited edition waterproof blankets have been backed with a PEVA, a healthier alternative for PVC and vinyl; preventing water reaching areas other than the PEVA surface.
You get all of the benefits of a plastic based product without all of the toxins such as Chlorine, meaning you get mould and mildew resistance from a material that is durable and waterproof.
How to wash and clean your waterproof picnic blanket?
It is very important for you to know how to wash a waterproof blanket before doing it to avoid any damage to your blanket.
Once your blanket gets dirty you may feel it's too hard to clean but if you take good care of yours you will have many years of picnics to come.
The most important thing that you need to know about your picnic blanket is that you can't put it in the washing machine or tumble drier. The Heat from the drier and the spinning of the washing machine will ruin your PEVA backing.
Here is a guide on how I clean my picnic blanket:
- I give the blanket a rough shake to remove any loose grass or sand. If you have excessive sand remaining i would recommend hanging on the washing line for longer.
- Lie your picnic blanket out flat and using a lint roller remove any dirt that is still on the blanket after shaking.
- If you have mud or food and drink stains on your blanket gently wipe with cold water, blot the excess and leave to dry.
- If you need to wipe clean the whole blanket you can hang on the line to drip dry.
- For any stubborn stains you can add a mild detergent to your cold water to wipe clean, ensure you then wash away the detergent with cold water and hang on the line to drip dry. Do not add bleach to your cold water.
- Ensure your picnic blanket is completely dry before rolling and storing to prevent any growth of mould and bacteria.
